That's Koreans' way of saying "cheez" in front of the camera. =D
I said I'm going to post the photos on Sunday and here they are!! Took a damn long time to upload em to Photobucket ok? =/ Photographer other than myself will be stated =D Photos that are smaller are kupo from other ppl. =D
Warning: This entry is overloaded with photos =)
This is prior to the trip. We can see Arpan behind, trying to weigh the books so that we can drop an exact 3kg on the dome we built and Kel Koh doing erm... dunno wat... Photograhper: Cai
Kel Koh trying to glue sth while Cai... drawing sth? Haha. Photographer: Arpan (he was trying out my camera =/)
We were testing out if our dome can withstand the 15kg...
7th Feb 2006, Tuesday
Do u noe tt sth like this exists in the transit place in Changi Airport? Kinda nice, heh. Photographer: Cai
The 2 happy gers on the plane. Oh, but Cai wasn't that happy when she realised that her TV is not working (she still wasn't happy when she found out that they'll give her a USD$75 on-flight DFS voucher... haha).
8th Feb 2006, Wed
Juz reached Incheon Airport and we were trying to take photos of us "smoking". Haha.
We took a jumbo cab from the airport to Hanyang University in Ansan for 1+hours. I was sleeping all the way aft I took this pic, but poor Cai, had to squeeze in front of the cab and this real weird lookin pic was taken....:
Photographer: Kin Den (the guy in this pic)
Finally, we reached our dome. But we had to carry our luggage 5 floors up the staircase. I wanted to faint on the spot... But well, my room has a nice view, kinda compensate for the 5 floors...
This is the ger's dome! Oh! Btw, they r v strict over there. The whole block that we're staying in is the gers' dome. This photo is taken from the guys' dome which is beside ours. The furthest that the guys can step into our dome is the lobby of our dome which is on the 1st floor -_-...
Aft resting a while, we decided to go to somewhere in Seoul for shopping and we took a photo of this place near our dome:
Photographer: I 4got. Lol
We took a train that cost 1400won (which is ard SGD$2.30) from Ansan to the market (which I 4got the name, but apparently it's v popular among tourists and locals)
Excited to take the train. Photographer: I think it's Wee Koon...
We unknowingly sat on the red seats which are supposed to be only for the elderlies, pregnant ladies or disabled ppl. Within 5 min, a Korean told us that we shldn't sit on the red seats. Oops!
We ate lunch @ the market @ this alley, where all the food stall are. It was kinda scary cos all the aunties are like shouting @ us, telling us to go into their shop to eat. This is me, deciding wat to eat. Photographer: I think it's Kel Koh....
I supposed these r the appetisers... Kimchi and more kimchi, haha (but I like the bean sprout! hehe)
A clothes shop. We saw this super nice jeans but it costs SGD$80.... crazy...
Managed to take the sign on the floor on the way back. Wonder wat it says....
These 2 guys... *shakes head*... Kin Den (in blue) scared off a high sch ger sitting beside him and Wee Koon (in grey) amused an old lady when he fall sideways on her.
There's this small food shop near the train station and we enjoyed the sausage that costs 1000won (ard SGD$1.70)!! =D
This church is somewhere near the train station. Tot that it looks nice...
The other 4 NUS gers in this trip, taken @ the bus stop near the train station, where we waited for the shuttle bus to the uni.
Night view from my dome.
Supper on 1st night @ a shop tt's abit like Seoul Garden. (Cos Prof Leung didn't have dinner, so we accompanied him) Apparently, the gers ate alot... We had a conclusion that cos we had to walk nearly 1/2 hour @ the temp of below 0, to reach the supper place. Wee Koon looks hungry too. Lol. Anyway this place is not bad! 5000won for buffet, which is ard SGD$8.30. But we smelled like BBQ food aft the supper.
Our daily routine: calling back home aft each day. Me n Cai waitin for Miao to finish her callings.
9th Feb 2006, Thurs
A new day! This is my breakfast. No, they dun sell Koka bowl noodles over there, I brought there myself when I noe that the breakfast will only be salad.
The snow scenery is so nice. Too bad we missed the snowing... Hai...
A opening ceremony by Hanyang University @ Ansan. Do u see the Korean guys wearing their uni sweater? They like to do the "fighting" pose when taking photos. Haha
There's a lake in the uni but of cos it's frozen.
Photos taken with the reporters of the uni & also a mag of the city. They told us that they will email us their magazine but it'll be in Korean. Joo! Need u to translate when they send to us!! =D
Team 1 ppl: Wee Koon, Peiqi (with specs) & Samantha (w/o specs) @ the welcome dinner.
We all looked happy cos we were going to have a sumptuous dinner during the opening ceremony~~ (I have no idea wat Arpan was trying to do... =/)
We took this pic with Macau Uni aft the dinner. 1 of the gers is really v cute (as in her behaviour)!! Hehe.
After dinner, Il Gon (the person with the peace sign in the picture) of Hanyang Uni @ Ansan brought us to this place called Home Plus where we could shop @ this super big supermarket, sth like Carrefour.
A photo of Samantha's & my room. U can see who is the messier one with her clothes on the chair n bed. (Of cos it's me loh, lol)
Meanwhile in the guys' dome, they're having a drinkin feast (see how red some of their faces are...). They shouted "Yam Seng" and I could hear it from the gers' dome. For a moment I tot I was dreaming (since Koreans dun shout yam seng...), budden I found that it was them the next day. Shout so loud... no wonder they ganna letter from the dome master. Haha.
10th Feb 2006, Fri
Kin Den & Kel Koh doing the dome
Ar-Miao-Ling doing their dome
A typical lunch. Apparently I 4got to take my previous meals... Best part of the meal is the soup and the gyoza. Hehe.
Me holding onto a snowball. Photographer: Miao
We were taken onto a campus tour around their Engineering faculty on the 3rd day.
And they actually have an old grandfather clock!!
And also we found a snow sculpture somewhere near the labs. So cool!!
After the campus tour, it's back to the fabrication... Clothes pegs courtesy of Kel Koh...
A Western dinner!
11th Feb 2006, Sat
A foggy morning. ( I wonder wat r those thing ard the trees for. Can any1 enlighten me? Hmm...)
Finally we finished our dome. But I think I didn't really do alot... =P
Our last Korean lunch @ Ansan...
Judging of the models...
Experiment on how strong our models are... Lol
Apparently Team 1's dome cannot withstand Wee Koon sitting on it...
Then take somemore photos with other unis' girls and also all of our 3 teams & Prof Leung...
I think Singaporean gers r the noisiest. MayB cos there's 5 of us, which makes nearly half of all the gers participants (the HK Uni ger is missing from the pic)
After that was some snowball fighting before all the snow melts (the temp was above 0 that day)...
We were on the way to the shuttle bus station (then to the shopping area near the train station) and we saw this cute dog wearing clothes, crossing the road:
So cute rite?!?!
Surprise surprise! We saw this Singapore Bar sign board @ the shopping area. Interesting. But I think some letters dropped out of the sign board and I dunno wat's the site anymore...
Cai & Miao saw Rain's poster and wanted to take a photo with it. Wee Koon is the extra one, haha.
We also ate ice cream in the freezing weather. Kel bought a ginseng flavoured ice cream and he ate it v slowly, insisting that he was testing if the ice cream will melt...
Cai showing us how to sing the "I'm a little teapot" song & also the actions. For the video, pls click here. Haha.
This was aft the closing ceremony. Taken with 2 other Koreans (they're PhD students in Hanyang Uni @ Ansan)
Samantha had quite a serious feet cramp and we were suggesting that 1 of the guys carry her back to hall. Haha. Photographer: Wee Koon (who else? -_-)
Oh! We spent the last nite playing asshole dai dee with the other uni gers (we planned to have a gathering with other uni PPL instead of gers only, but there's nowhere which we can go that can contain both gers n guys).
12 Feb 2006, Sun
Me & Cai, self potrait taken outside the palace
Group photo inside the palace...
They've a guard-changing ceremony every hour, starting from 10am. In the past (as in when the palace was in use), the guards changes shift only once a day.
The frozen lake in the palace.
See the Chinese words? Koreans used to use Chinese words until they invented their own words.
There was some exhibition on traditional Korean activities & we took a photo with 2 old ladies in their traditional costume. N 1 of em even shouted "kimchi!" when the photo was taken, so cute!
Human figures made from straws, quite cute!
Traditional masks
We went shopping aft the tour in the palace. But due to time constraint, I didn't take out my camera to shoot the shopping place, but the pic below is taken somewhere near the shopping area...
I wonder how this auto toilet works... Anyway we were joking that this is the house of this Korean guy...
Cos when we were @ the entrance to the palace, he said that the palace is his house. Corny guy, lol.
Anyway the shopping area is outdoor. We were nearly frozen to death..Brrrr...
Anyway, time flies & we were back to Incheon Airport to go back to Singapore & we took our last photo in Korea...
And 6 hours later, we're back in Singapore!!
I muz comment that SIA pilots are really good. Was telling some of my frens that I puked on my trip from Sri Lanka back to Singapore cos Sri Lanka planes went like this when touching down:
while SIA planes goes like this:
with a small kink when the plane touches the runway. Anyway it's kinda true. I didn't puke @ all this time round!! And stupid Kel still tot I puked when we went Korea -_-...
The trip was really fun (minus somethings tt I dun wanna mention here)!! The bad thing is... the trip made me still in holiday mood. Luckily the mid-term break is here & I'll have time to study =D. I shall blog on CE day tmr cos it's already 2.17am!! Yes... I spent 3 hrs blogging this entry, muz appreciate my hardwork ok? =D For more photos, u can go to http://photobucket.com/albums/a265/amigoeva/4th%20IUCEC%20in%20Korea/

Hi Eva,
Miao's sis here.. seems like u gers really enjoyed ur stay in Korea...
Some answers to part of your questions in the pics...
1)"The msg on the floor" pic
Is this taken off the train station platform?
If I read correctly, the 1st 2 words r "Zu4 Yi4" in Chinese which is "Atttention".
The rest will be saying like "Pls stand behind this line when the train comes"
2) "Trees with extra cover" pic
Those cover are to support the trees to be stable during winter cos there are snow which adds pressure.
